23rd Annual Sustainable Agriculture Conference
October 31- November 2, 2008
in Anderson, South Carolina (map)

The three-day conference will feature tours of Upstate-area sustainable farms, a day-long organic certification class, a youth program, and over 60 workshops on topics from organic crop production, humane livestock management, and unique farming techniques; to nutrition, seasonal cooking, and grassroots organizing. The meals, prepared using the best local ingredients, are always a conference highlight. This is the event of the year for anyone involved or interested in sustainable farming, gardening and/or living.

Keynote Speakers include: Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm and Wes Jackson of The Land Institute.

The conference is made possible in part thanks to Anderson County’s competitive bid to host the event. “With its innovative farm-to-school programs and its investments in the local food infrastructure, Anderson County is a role model for the Southeast,” said McReynolds. “CFSA is working to help other Carolina communities make that same commitment to sustainable agriculture, which is a food and farming system that is good for the farmer, good for the consumer, and good for the land.”
