Keynote Speakers
Brad Wyche
Brad Wyche is one of South Carolina’s top advocates for sensible land use and economic development policy. As the Founder and Executive Director of Upstate Forever, a non-profit group dedicated to preserving the quality of life in the SC Piedmont, Brad has had enormous influence in the Upstate. Besides speaking out for better land use policies, Upstate Forever is also active as a land trust. Brad will be speaking about the role of sustainable agriculture in a strong regional economic development program. He will talk about the efforts of Upstate Forever to preserve farmland and rural communities both through the land trust and through Smart Growth planning.
Joel Salatin
Saturday night’s keynote speaker will be the legendary Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. Joel is known as a powerful and inspiring speaker and has much to say about today’s opportunities in sustainable agriculture. Polyface Farm in Virginia is the Salatin’s unconventional and ongoing experiment to create environmentally-sustainable farming. The farm is famous for its use of intricate and ingenious systems of plants and animals working together. Joel has written several popular books and is featured in Michael Pollan’s “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.” CFSA is honored to once again host Joel as a speaker. Hearing Joel is a chance not to be missed.
