The fourth annual Upstate Farm Tour happened the weekend of June 5-6, 2010.  The Upstate Farm Tour took place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days and highlighted 20 sustainable farms— those using organic or environmentally responsible growing practices.  With the idea of choosing local and organic food products becoming a priority for many families,  the tour provides the opportunity to make those important farm-to-fork connections and discover sources for fresh, healthy food in our Upstate community. Over 1,000 people took the tour this year. That's double the number of visitors we had on last year's tour!

The 2010 featured a diversity of local farms, including fruit and vegetable growers, livestock producers, two  dairies, a worm farm, mushroom farm, and a hydroponic producer.   A new highlight of this year’s tour was the inclusion of the Bowie Old Farm Show where visitors could step back in time and gain hands-on experience with the traditional farming methods of generations past.   Two farms, Sharon Rose Farm in Woodruff, and Split Creek Farm in Anderson were meal-stops on the tour, offering farm fresh food, cooked onsite for guests looking for a special on-farm lunch or supper.  Many farms offered fun activities unique to the tour.

The Upstate Farm Tour is self-guided, and  farms are located all around the Upstate, including Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, Laurens, and Spartanburg counties.  All proceeds from the tour benefit Carolina Farm Stewardship Association.
