As Hurricane Isaias starts to impact the Carolinas, farmers in coastal regions and further inland should take action now to safeguard your families, farms, and livestock. You probably have already been taking some steps to harvest or protect crops and animals. Don’t forget to document your crops, structures, animals, special event spaces, etc. before and after the storm passes. This documentation is critical to farms’ efforts to recover after the storm.
After the storm, contact and report any damages to your Cooperative Extension office (NC here, SC here) and the Farm Service Agency in your area.
