On-Farm Intensives are part of the 39th Sustainable Agriculture Conference but may be purchased separately from conference admission.
Location: Panther Creek Forest Farm, Durham, NC
Presenters: Eliza Lawdley & Clay Bordley, Panther Creek Forest Farm
Explore Panther Creek Forest Farm with farmers Eliza and Clay to better understand how to apply permaculture and agroforestry design using the “Scale of Permanence” concept as a land evaluation tool. The afternoon begins with a tour of Panther Creek Forest Farm, a 28-acre agroforestry site designed using keyline management principles and the scale of permanence. This approach emphasizes whole-farm planning and involves a landscape-scale understanding of the relationship between topography and water movement. The second half of the workshop provides a hands-on opportunity to practice propagating native trees and creating basic farm plans. Participants learn about managing wooded areas, meadows, and riparian buffers and how to apply these concepts to each unique piece of land.
Registration: $80 | $60 for CFSA Members | $50 for Students & Veterans
