  • Entering our 17th season, with expansion happening in 2025 (building infrastructure, etc. for expansion in 2024)

Job/Internship Description

Assistant Grower Goals

Grow great vegetables efficiently with a small team, keeping quality control and food safety at the forefront.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team on a wide variety of vegetable production including spreading fertilizer, transplanting, seeding, laying landscape fabric and row cover, irrigation, trellising, cultivating, and pest and disease management, some mowing and weedeating.
  • Harvest, wash, and pack efficiently as part of a team, including packing customized CSA boxes
  • Assist with sales and stocking, on a rotating schedule, at farmers market on Saturday
  • Deliver CSA shares, and other orders in a farm van
  • Maintain records

Qualifications

Experience:
At least one season of commercial farm experience preferred, but some demonstration of ability to do outside physical labor is a must

General skills & abilities:

  • Team player (we don’t call it the “farmily” for nothing!)
  • Able to professionally represent the farm at market
  • Understanding of body mechanics and efficiency

Requirements:

  • Able to bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 30-40 lbs consistently, 50 lbs frequently
  • Able to use hands for fast fine motor movements with plants, tools, rubber bands, etc.
  • Able to effectively communicate—this is key to a small farm
  • Able to recognize gaps in knowledge, skills, and experience and seeks feedback and assistance when appropriate
Number of Positions: 3 (of 9)
Start and End Dates: April 1st-September 30 with potential for extended or year-round employment
Salary Details:

$15/hr to start, plus 3-day paid vacation for first year employees, housing can be available, and all the veggies you can eat
