Farm Description

We are a small family farm in Mebane NC operating since 2014. We have an intensive 1 acre market garden growing produce and cut flowers, 1 acre orchard growing mostly figs, pawpaws, and blueberries, and we raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, and sheep for meat.  All of our poultry processing is done on farm.  All of our produce is grown following sustainable practices. without the use of synthetic chemicals.

Job Description

We are looking for 1-2 part time employees to work around 23-30 hours a week for 3-4 days a week.  Mondays are Mandatory while the others days can be flexible.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Garden bed preparation, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, and trellising.
• Washing and packing all produce from the garden efficiently and with care.
• Bunching and wrapping cut flowers
• Assist in on-farm poultry processing. Processing dates are always scheduled on a Monday.  This will be included in the 20 hours for the week.
• Cleaning and organizing the greenhouse, tool shed, wash station, etc.

Qualifications:

• Must be ok with poultry processing.  Participation is mandatory for this position.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds easily.
• Able to work outside in all types of weather.  Proper attire and lots of water are important.
• Thorough with a sense of urgency.  Cannot stress enough the importance of this.
• Must follow instruction and execute tasks following a demonstration.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently.
• Required to be at work on time ready to go when scheduled.  Must be reliable and consistent.
• Prior farm experience preferred but not necessary.
