Green Heffa Farms is an organic herb farm, a tea company, a natural health brand, an educational resource, and a movement.
We do a lot on our 14.84 acres.

Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Farm Assistant to join our social equity and environmentally-focused herb and specialty crop farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plant care, experience in basic farm operations, and a commitment to sustainable and equitable farming practices. This part-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven farm that values community, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Care:
Assist with the planting, watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting of a diverse range of herbs and specialty crops.
Monitor plant health, identifying and addressing issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies using organic and environmentally-friendly methods.
Implement and maintain sustainable agricultural practices, including composting, crop rotation, and soil health management.
Farm Operations:
Support the daily operations of the farm, including soil preparation, irrigation management, and crop maintenance.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
Help with post-harvest processing, such as drying, packaging, and storing herbs, ensuring all practices align with environmental sustainability.
Social Equity and Community Engagement:
Engage with the local community during farm tours, educational events, or market days, promoting the farm’s mission of social equity and environmental sustainability.
Support initiatives that increase access to fresh, locally-grown herbs and specialty crops for underserved communities.
Assist in developing and participating in community programs that educate and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds in sustainable farming practices.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of planting schedules, crop yields, and harvesting activities.
Assist in tracking inventory and preparing orders for customers or local markets.
General Farm Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as mowing, repairing fences, and general property upkeep, ensuring the farm remains a safe and welcoming environment.
Assist with any additional tasks as needed to support the farm’s operations and mission.
Qualifications:
Experience:
At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in farming, gardening, or horticulture, with a focus on sustainable practices.
Familiarity with organic farming techniques and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
Skills:
Proficient in plant care, including planting, pruning, watering, and pest management using eco-friendly methods.
Ability to operate basic farm tools and equipment.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
Physical ability to perform outdoor tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Working Conditions:
This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. The position requires physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
Compensation: $18 per hour; Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
