With so many great farms on the tour, choosing which ones you want to see this year can be challenging. Perhaps you want to prioritize which farms have snacks available? Or maybe you’re looking to hit up a few in the same area?

Below are tools and tips you can use to formulate a plan in advance or on the tour.

Tools for Taking the Tour

  • The CFSA Website – for the most up-to-date information, our website is the first place to check for farm tour info.
  • Interactive Map – read about the farms, plan your stops, and get driving directions to boot. We highly recommend downloading an offline version to help get you around when there’s limited cell service. Here’s a key to the map:
    • Colors: Different colors indicate different regions that we’ve broken the tour into (North, South, Central, and East). Brown icons and the Weaver Street Market logo indicate where you can buy a farm tour pass in person.
    • Stars: These indicate kick-off farms, which open at noon instead of 2 p.m.
  • Brochure – Download a digital version or stop by a Weaver Street Market location to pick up a paper copy!

Tips for Taking the Tour

  • Respect the tour hours – the tour happens Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21 from 2-6 PM each day, rain or shine. Please don’t arrive before or after tour hours. There are kick-off farms, noted on the tour map, that open early at noon.
  • Choose your own adventure – start with the understanding that you will not have time to visit all the farms on the tour. It’s reasonable to plan on seeing 3-4 farms per day, allowing 1-2 hours per farm. How to choose?
    • Read up on the participating farms.
    • Pick a farm that excites you most, then plan additional stops nearby.
    • Let geography help – some start with a farm that’s closest to home and work their way out. Others go the opposite way—start further out and work your way in.
    • Are snacks a consideration? Some farms will have food you can purchase on-site or nearby.
  • Tours at each farm are self-guided – some farms have more hands-on experiences than others. While the farm team at each site will aim to be around and answer questions and discuss their production methods, most farm visits will be self-guided. This allows you to move at your own pace and to truly stop and smell flowers.
  • Tour button = your pass – one button gets anyone in your car into all the farms on both days of the tour. So, cram your car full of folks and head out for some farm-fresh fun! Cycling groups are welcome to use just one pass.
  • What to bring – nearly every farm will tempt you with farm-fresh produce, meats, and other delightful things. Bring a cooler with ice so you can stock up! Bring your camera, sunscreen, snacks, water, and rain gear as needed.
  • Where to get food – no one likes get hangry! In addition to bringing your own snacks, know that some farms will have things to eat. Search our farm list for “Meal/Snack Stop” to find which ones will have what.
  • No pets – sorry, no dogs or other furry friends allowed.
  • Bring a cooler – many farms will have farm-fresh produce, meats, and other yummy things for sale. Don’t forget to bring a cooler with ice so you can stock up!
  • What to wear – wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, and be prepared for muddy lanes and uneven ground. The tour happens rain or shine, so come prepared for all kinds of weather.
  • Offline maps – wifi can cut out in certain areas. Feel free to map out the farms you want to visit in advance and download the area for offline navigation.
  • Check our website – it’s a good idea to check our website before you head out to tour. The latest tour information and updates, including our map, will be available.
